Changing from a high-volume shop, to a private, much smaller client base. Email to request a "restoration interview."

Metric Autohaus has procured the last piece of the puzzle: Our very own Paint Facility.

Restorations have been brought in by clients, towed in by transport companies, or shipped into the country via Baltimore Harbor.
Metric has moved from Millersville, MD to 2 smaller shops. One is mechanical, and the other is paint and body.
We are designing a much more focused, smaller, streamlined, clean, and orderly shop to increase the efficiency of our craft. This means that you will still be able to rely on the same quality Metric Autohaus has been known for, only at a fraction of the time it used to take. An assembly line process has been implimented; (1) projects enter through Bay Door A, (2) Disassembly and parts organizing take place, (3) Rust removal & Welding follow, (4) Body work and prep are next, (5) Mechanical restoration and parts replacement are managed while (6) Parts & Body are Painted, followed by (7) Complete re-assembly of project, and then finally (8) Final inspection/testing/and tuning. Vehicles are then run through one final checklist and are just as high in quality, if not better, than original.

Metric Autohaus: What is this place?
Metric Autohaus, inc. is a private restoration effort for the avid Volkswagen & classic Porsche fanatic. Many new projects are currently underway, such as a new website, art, music, smaller facilities, and clubs and organizations to help support our way of life. If what drives your passion is air-cooled, we are the guys you want to know. People often ask us why we group VW and Porsche; the answer is simple. Ferdinand Porsche created the VW Beetle as Porsche Type 60; and all Porsches and VWs are therefore linked by "blood relation". If you look even deeper into history, you will see that it is a bit more complicated than that, but for now, let's just keep it simple.
If you are looking for a Restoration, contact us via email; metricautohaus@gmail.com. We also can review pictures sent via email, and can advise you regarding the best plan of action. We are currently giving estimates, and putting names on our waiting list. If you are considering getting an estimate or having us get started on that full restoration, make sure to reserve your spot soon, as the schedule fills quickly.
However, if standard service is needed such as tune-ups, brake and suspension work, factory scheduled service, or anything else that takes a few hours to a few weeks to complete; we can certainly fit you in. Often times restoration projects can be put on hold for paint jobs, waiting on parts, or just the fact that we caught up with all of the client's payment schedules. These gaps in the schedule make it very efficient and speedy to fit in smaller jobs. Therefore, the schedule book is sometimes open for smaller jobs.
Not many people still drive these beloved cars, so the availability for service work is never a problem. Conversely, not many shops cater strictly to air-cooled VWs and Porsches either, so make sure to call us or drop us an email to see if we can't help you with anything and everything you might need.
Just like anyone else, we don't just fix, modify, and restore VWs and Porsches. We also celebrate the German marques with many other forms of more conventional art forms. The website, www.metricarthaus.com is still under construction, but will have VW & Porsche art, music, and much more for the enthusiast to enjoy. We are a part of the growing movement in the VW & Porsche community, and we urge all to get involved in creating a rich, vibrant community of our own, here on the East Coast. Drop us an email and let us share ideas on how to create the largest, most gratifying VW & Porsche scene for all of us to enjoy.

METRIC AUTOHAUS RECYCLES EVERYTHING

Making a new Metric Autohaus sign the old-fashioned way...while recycling old bondo filled doors.

The remaining portions of the doors get torn down, categorized, and taken to the appropriate recycling bins for pick-up. Recycling saves money, but more importantly, the environment.
