We pride ourselves on being a "Green Company". We have a fully functional program currently in use known as G.R.E.E.N., or "Getting Really Environmentally Efficient Now", which we are working hand in hand with other businesses to fully integrate into our business circle.

While on a trip to pick up a VW, we happened upon an engineer who lived just over the bridge going onto Solomon's Island. What first drew my attention to the left was simple; a ton of cars. Some were from the 20's, while others were from the 50's and 60's. I pulled over to gawk at the collection of everything from Morgans to Porsches, Plymouth Arrow Drag car to shoebox Fords. A Beetle or two sat out in the woods. As I sat and stared, a figure of a man walked out of the misty morning light over to our rig.
I was asked not to reveal his name until his prototype was completed and patented. He took a Model A Ford, and designed modern mechanicals to fit into the retro-engineered wonder car. We formed a fast friendship and started talking about all things car related. We are going to be working on a project where maximum fuel mileage can be attained from a standard internal combustion engine. To design an electrical, hydrogen, or solar powered car is one thing, but to start with a drive train and make it more efficient means that it can go in a VW sooner than later. He let me drive the heck out of his prototype and it was amazing. I mean, I punched it hard, and threw it into corners. All at approx. 45-55 miles to the gallon of low grade pump gas... and that's un-tuned. It really opened my eyes up to many possibilities. We VW folk have what many people consider as antique cars, however they may be the perfect cars for the future.
The very design of the VW lends itself very well to futuristic energy efficiency needs. Small, light weight, and simple in design. Electric motor with a bank of batteries...no problem. Solar panels? No big deal there. The sky is the limit as far as GREEN goes with VWs. Mr. X's prototype really forced me to see that higher miles to the gallon can be achieved through efficient drive trains.
A sneak peek of the his prototype is seen in this photo. More to come as first data pools come in throughout a full year of seasonal changes. My prototype is currently underway. Keep an eye out at local shows for the GREEN VW; prototype 1.
I am glad to have met Mr. X, as genius is probably his middle name. Hey, how could he be wrong...the engine is in the back, after all.

Mr. X, you are an inspiration to all of us who are trying to push the envelope... on a budget, no less. Keep dreaming up solutions for future generations and we will do the same.
