Metric Autohaus, inc. is involved in many projects outside of business. Some are surprised to find out that some of our free time is actually dedicated to projects of a different nature. We proudly participate in charity work and social programs.
*We are currently working with Charm City Church to refurbish, repair, and re-paint bicycles and tricycles for homeless children in the Baltimore area. We find cycles that people are throwing out, and we recondition them. Every Christmas, the toys are presented to needy children. Bicycles serve many functions; transportation, exercise, and overall health. If you have old metal/steel bicycles ranging in sizes from child to adult, or tricycles, drop us a line.

**We recently started working on a Fund Drive for a friend in Essex, England who lost his VW restoration shop to a fire. Plans are in the works to create VW related clothing, and VW music on CD, to help fund the relief effort. See the "Can anybody help me?" ad on Samba. If there is anything that you can do to help our VW brothers in England, please contact them, Samba ad number 567444. If you would like to help us with the Relief Fund, contact us at: metricautohaus@gmail.com.
***The High School Gateway Program will be starting this summer. High school students will be interning at the shop, helping to compile data for research into alternative fueled vehicles. Vasco Mateus is a senior from Charles Herbert Flowers High School of Science and Technology, and currently works with University of Maryland's EV research team, while attending high school. He will be part of our team this summer, and we are looking forward to reaching out to help today's youth get established within the local Engineering community. High School students interested in participation in the program can contact us: metricautohaus@gmail.com. Send it titled: Summer Internship Program. Spots are filled for this year, but there are two positions open for Summer, 2009.

Shop vehicles, both personal and those of Metric Autohaus, are our other love. These are not customer's or friend's cars, but rather projects of the staff here at Metric Autohaus, inc. We not only restore and modify cars for clients, we work on our own cars as well! Here are some examples of what we spend our weekends tweaking, modifying, and improving...this is a lifestyle as well as a commitment for us.
All of our personal projects will be shown on the "Before & After" page once things get interesting with the individual projects. We all love our VWs, customers and professionals alike, and each project gets done in its own time.
1967 VW 21-Window Deluxe Microbus; Rob's "Daily Driver" Project. I started going the stocker route, but it just lacked the fun factor. So...
...I decided to have some fun with it. Made my own 3" narrowed adj. bay beam, rear IRS conversion, BRMs, 1776cc twin 36mm Dells, CE Safaris, real 1967 plates with legal registration, Airway Factory Compass, stainless brake lines, Auto-Meter Tach, and on and on. Rear is still being dialed in (dropping two more clicks), and all new brakes are going in today...
