Repair, Restoration, Fabrication, and Modification of German & European Automobiles Since 1984.

We are a full-service facility.  Cars are driven or towed into us; in pieces or as a whole; we do it all.  We hold regular consultations with clients regarding their German Automotive needs; projects from as little as a tune-up, to as large an undertaking as a full restoration. Call or email for an appointment.

*We currently cater to Air-Cooled VWs and Porsches, due to the quality of work necessary to achieve  results that are as close to perfect as we can get them. Water-Cooled vehicles tend to be used as daily drivers, and quick fixes just don't fall into the Metric Autohaus philosophy.  Some exceptions do exist in the case of body panel replacement, and long term projects.  Call or email and we will be more than happy to let you know if we can accommodate your needs, or at least know where to send you if we can't.

From engine builds, to paint jobs, we do it all.   A/C service, ASE  service, metal fabrication; there is no need to take your car anywhere else.  At Metric Autohaus, inc., a custom-tailored project, and experience, is what you can expect.  Attention to detail is always paramount in a successful project, and one visit to our facility will attest to the fact that we keep a neat, clean, and well organized, interlinked set of spaces through which we work our passions; from turbo/super charger systems, to flawless paint jobs.

If a client would prefer to do most of the work themselves, we can also do partial work, such as weld in panels, or build a long block; leaving the finishing work for the client.  We will work with you through any scenario your imagination can come up with.

Here are just a few pictures to help illustrate what we do here at Metric Autohaus, inc.  It is impossible to cover everything, so we chose a few examples to put on display on the website.  If you don't see a service pictured, simply ask and I am most certain that we do it, and do it well.

From hand painting to full custom or stock paint jobs...

Rust section before removal, weld, and seal...

...repaired section afterwards.

Absolute perfection and attention to detail goes into our metal work; from cutting out rusted sections...

...to shaping and smoothing the new metal to fit the lines...

...to "shaving" molding, all using metal, not cheaper methods used by supposed restoration shops that value speed over quality...

...with finish work and a paint job, the results are quite apparent.

We can install small jobs like seat covers, carpets, or headliners in a stock Beetle...

...or put together a Drag Race interior, with cage, gauges, and safety equipment.

We can install NACA ducting to cool your engine, brakes, or provide cold air to your intake box, stacks, or turbo...

...or do a bare-metal, "body-off" full restoration on your Beetle, the possibilities are endless.

Brake jobs from the stock OEM variety...

...to the Race spec brake systems, coil-overs, and line locks.

We build engines from stock to race spec.  On our stock builds, we use German parts.  Some people think that a dirty part is junk, but we know that 80% of the older parts are still well within spec.  The "dirt" preserves the parts, and after a cleaning, refinishing, and checking, original German parts will outlast ANY shiny, cheap, chromed after-market part that vaguely resembles the original.  Hold the two parts side by side, and you will see what we are talking about.  Original German parts are made to last in stock applications.  Don't try to save money buying cheap.

For mild to race engines, there are many companies that actually make quality after-market parts.  You have to know who makes quality products, and who cuts corners to try and make a few extra dollars.  Quality is evident in how SMALL the number of times you have to replace the part.  We can build mild engines...

...or gut-launching drag-race power houses!  We can even freshen drag motors between seasons, replacing bearings, nitrite-coat cranks, size rods, etc.

We have taken considerable time to design and build an VW engine "Build & Run" system.  The system consists of an engine roll chassis, a run stand, and a build stand.  When an engine is removed from a VW, it is cradled safely in the engine chassis (a low CG cart).  This cart can then be easily moved to the build stand.  The Engine is torn down and build back up on the build stand.  It then gets mounted to the full run stand.  Engines are broken in properly and adjustments are made.  Once fully set, the engine is dropped back down into the engine chassis and wheeled over to the VW.  After a few pumps of the jack handle, the new engine is in it's new home.  Simple & efficient.

We can put a stock engine together to add new life to your stock VW...

...re-jet and tune an engine from a builder from a higher altitude, using concrete data based off aggregate averages of our climate...

...or put together a mild custom motor for your Cal-Looker...

...or Type 2.

For customers who want to get more involved, we can invite you to be part of the process.
